Not to mention another great use of AppleTV and a computer or iPad/iPhone, is running visual services, aka Visual T'filah, in the classroom or sanctuary. In the same way that a teacher can run through flashcards or PowerPoint, the images can be the text/liturgy of prayers along with images to enhance our understanding of the prayers.
The beauty, which you mention above, is that the AppleTV combo can do/show practically anything we can imagine.

Josh, I really appreciate the time and thought you put into this response to me. I actually agree with much of what you wrote here. Unfortunately, some of your arguments are still based on the "your barking up the wrong flagpole" offensive. That is to say, why complain about Delta supporting Saudi Arabian's entry into the SkyTeam Alliance when down the road from me there are Ford and GM making automobiles that depend on foreign oil from the Saudis.

It's really no different than Delta's defense of: "Well, all the other big American airlines are part of these alliances too and they're doing business with bad countries too." That might be true, but just as a teacher doesn't care to hear "Well, Johnny was doing it too," neither do I.

It's my prerogative if I chose to write something about the Delta-Saudi alliance, but didn't write anything about the other airlines. There's no conflict of interest here. I happen to fly Delta a lot and someone sent me an article about this partnership.

I'm glad that Delta will not be code sharing with Saudi Arabian and I think that's a good solution. Will I continue to fly Delta? I will. Did I ever call for a boycott of Delta? I certainly didn't. I also never encouraged people to call Delta or protest or anything. And when I realized that the original title of my blog post was misleading and sensationalized, I wrote an updated blog post explaining and correcting myself.

Again, I appreciate the dialogue. You clearly know more about the airline industry than I do. I hope that in the future big companies like Delta (and other airlines) will use their power to help sway the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia toward a more democratic and less discriminatory outlook.

Using this pilot as an example of what Jewish education can and should be is inspiring and instructional. Each student is an important part of our classroom.
I agree that bringing yourself into the classroom is a good attribute for any Jewish teacher, just like the airline pilot Denny. A positive attitude toward Jewish learning and one's students is a must. Being cheerful and involved in the learning process can build essential Jewish connections in the lives of the children we teach.

As a religious school educator and frequent flyer, I really take this to heart! We sometimes forget that our "role" as an educator or individual in general can go outside the box. It's these little things that help make those around us feel appreciated and memorable :)
